Sparta was a great city. During the fifth century BC Sparta was very powerful. Sparta was powerful mainly because of her army, which was feared. This city was focused on producing good male soilders. The army played an important role in the win over the Persians. However, archeological evidence proves that Sparta wasn't always a military-minded city. In times earlier, Spartan bronze and ivory workers produced beautiful objects. All these facts prove that Sparta was a great city.
